Abstract

English Matriculation Program is one of the programs of the Faculty of Letters, Sawerigading University Makassar in which Collaborative learning approach was applied to assist the new students to improve their English competence. The major purpose of this program was providing services to equip students to be  able to speak English fluently. In this evaluative study, the researcher collected data relating to the collaborative learning approach applied at the English matriculation program. The data collection was related to the learning process, the participating students as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in implementing this approach. From the result of this evaluative study the author figured out that the Collaborative Learning Approach applied at the English matriculation program could assist the students  to improve their English skills well. However, the other goals should be added in order that the  method can suit the needs and the interests of the students.
