THE MEANING AND HISTORY OF SULAPA EPPA WALASUJI BUGIES CULTURE IN SINJAI REGENCY

Abstract

This study aimed to 1) investigate the perceptions of the community and the evolution of the “Sulapa Eppa Walasuji’ tradition in the modern era, and 2) investigate the perceptions of community leaders, particularly in saotengga village. Sinjai Regency. This study was conducted utilizing qualitative methodologies. This study drew its informants from the saotengga rural community. This sample was collected on purpose.The data were collected in the form of responses to many questions posed or distributed to the villagers of saotengga .seventeen questions were posed regarding the “Sulapa Eppa Walasuji” local tradition of the local area. Covering the perception of counsel, meaning, concept, development. time and place of implementation of the practice, each variable in one of 17 questions was followed by five potential replies for each district informant. The writer then used the analysis of the interview data to explain what the local culture meant and how it came to be. The findings of this study revealed that the evolution of “Sulapa Eppa Walasuji” culture in the present period differs significantly from the culture that was formerly unique and sacred currently.” Salapa Eppa Walasuji” culture is utilized by nearly everyone and serves as the reference point for prestige in society.
